Artificial Intelligence is rapidly changing the way we learn, work, communicate and participate in society. These transformations create significant opportunities, but they also raise an essential question: how can we ensure that AI contributes to inclusion rather than creating new forms of exclusion?

The NEVI-EVY project – NEETcraft Initiative: Innovations for Empowering Youth with Disabilities invites you to the online webinar “Boost AI² Inclusion”, a session dedicated to exploring the relationship between Artificial Intelligence, digital literacy, accessibility and social inclusion.

The webinar will examine how emerging technologies can contribute to creating more inclusive opportunities, particularly for young people and persons with disabilities, while considering the barriers that may arise when accessibility and diversity are not adequately incorporated into technological development and digital environments.

Invited speaker

Professor Maria Potes Barbas

Full Professor in Educational Multimedia Communication | Pro-President for Innovation, Polytechnic Institute of Santarém | Coordinator of the Research Hub Digital Literacy & Social Inclusion (CIAC-PLDIS-IPSantarém)

Professor Maria Potes Barbas will bring her expertise in educational multimedia communication, digital literacy, innovation and social inclusion to the discussion, providing a perspective on the opportunities that Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies can offer for more inclusive education and participation.

About the webinar

Digitalisation can create new opportunities for learning, participation, communication and employment. At the same time, people who face accessibility barriers or have limited access to digital skills and technologies risk being left behind.

This is particularly relevant to the work of NEVI-EVY, which focuses on empowering young persons with disabilities and improving their pathways towards participation and decent employment.

“Boost AI² Inclusion” will provide a space to reflect on questions such as:

  • How can Artificial Intelligence contribute to greater social and educational inclusion?
  • What role does digital literacy play in ensuring equitable access to emerging technologies?
  • How can accessibility and universal design be incorporated into AI-supported environments?
  • What opportunities can AI create for young persons with disabilities?
  • What new risks or barriers could emerge from the increasing use of AI?
  • How can educators, researchers, organisations and policymakers contribute to a more inclusive digital transformation?

The session aims not only to explore technological innovation, but also to place people, accessibility and equal participation at the centre of that innovation.

NEVI-EVY and inclusive innovation

The webinar forms part of the activities of NEVI-EVY – NEETcraft Initiative: Innovations for Empowering Youth with Disabilities.

The project works to improve opportunities for young persons with disabilities by exploring innovative approaches to empowerment, skills development, participation and labour-market inclusion.

Within this context, Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies represent an important field for reflection. Their value for inclusion will ultimately depend not simply on what technology can do, but on how it is designed, implemented and made accessible to people with different abilities, needs and circumstances.

Who should attend?

The webinar is particularly relevant for:

  • researchers and academics;
  • educators and trainers;
  • youth workers;
  • organisations representing persons with disabilities;
  • employment and social inclusion professionals;
  • policymakers and public administrations;
  • students and young people;
  • professionals working in digital innovation and accessibility;
  • anyone interested in Artificial Intelligence and inclusive societies.
