It provides evidence on labour market participation, working conditions, education and NEET status, while identifying the sub-groups most exposed to labour market exclusion.

The Policy Brief shows that young persons with disabilities continue to face significant disadvantages across education and employment. They are less likely to be employed, more likely to be outside the labour force, more exposed to precarious working conditions and more frequently in NEET situations than young persons without disabilities.

However, the findings also show a strong underlying motivation to participate in the labour market. This confirms the need for inclusive and evidence-based policy responses that address structural barriers and improve access to quality employment.

The document identifies several priority areas for policy action:

Education retention and support, with particular attention to reducing early school leaving among young people with disabilities;

Pathways to tertiary and STEM education, improving access and completion rates;

Skill matching and vocational guidance, strengthening the connection between qualifications, skills and labour market needs;

Targeted outreach to vulnerable sub-groups, including young people with lower educational attainment and those without recent participation in education or training;

Job quality, reducing precarious employment and supporting flexible and inclusive working arrangements.

This Policy Brief contributes to the NEVI-EVY project’s objective of promoting innovative approaches for empowering youth with disabilities and supporting their inclusion in the labour market.

📄 Download the full Policy Brief: https://nevi-evy.eu/web/policy-brief-young-persons-with-disabilities-on-the-eu-labour-market/

The NEVI-EVY project invites policymakers, public authorities, civil society organisations, employers, researchers and youth stakeholders to use and disseminate this Policy Brief as a contribution to more inclusive labour markets in Europe.

NEVI-EVY has published a new Policy Brief entitled “Young persons with disabilities on the EU labour market”.
